Right now, this poem is called Poem #5097. Title suggestions are welcomed with open arms. [Edit: it finally has a title!!]
There is Love Beneath Atlantis
There is Love Beneath Atlantis
Silence thrashes its waves
into lips, teeth
then tongue
and your words,
like puddles,
have been mistaken
for oceans.
With the sweetness
of their waters
you plan to overthrow me.
Let them rest a while
on your tongue
until the salt
like puddles,
have been mistaken
for oceans.
With the sweetness
of their waters
you plan to overthrow me.
Let them rest a while
on your tongue
until the salt
dissolves
so that I may
never
taste the bitterness
of a love
too loud.
so that I may
never
taste the bitterness
of a love
too loud.

A.! haha i can't use your name. I really do love this piece of writing. i love your word choice and your verbs. The title for this one is a tuffy, im thinking maybe something to do with the ocean/nature and the idea of things being too loud. i'm going to keep thinking about it, if i think of anything ill let you know!

A. - Hmmmmm...
Hmmmm... I keep thinking of "Puddle Dive," but that is the title of an A. Difranco album, so that will not work. I wish I could get it out of my head, though, so other thoughts would have a chance. Grrrrrr. I am drawn to the second stanza: "With the sweetness/of its waters/you plan to win me over." The idea of someone trying to win someone over with a sweet ocean of words... how about something regarding the tides? Even the ocean can turn to puddles during low tide (Or is it high tide when the water is low and far away from the shore? I always get those mixed up.) ANYway, happy titling!
you. =]
